Tasks and Responsibilities |
The U2 fasteners Sales Assistant reports to the VP of Sales and Marketing and is responsible for the following:
- Growing U2 sales to meet / exceed corporate sales goals
- Performing both formal and informal marketing research to understand competitors, identify new markets, understand existing markets, create new strategies and influence corporate direction.
- Managing assigned sales territories (including commission sales people, customers, customers purchasing and sales staff, etc.)
- Travelling extensively to represent U2 Fasteners at shows, special events, sales calls, etc.. This includes imparting product knowledge and making both formal and informal presentations.
- Assisting with the creation and use of marketing materials and tools
- Other related duties (e.g., assist with annual inventory, review reports, resolve disputes, train staff, documentation, etc.)

U2 Fasteners is ISO certified, and is seeking PIP / CT/PAT certification
Incumbent will apprentice in the warehouse (packing, filling orders, etc.) to learn about the products and processes at U2 Fasteners
The best sales people are friendly, cheerful, and professional.
They can work with a variety of people while adapting to changing conditions and unexpected obstacles.
They need to lead by example, demonstrate sales techniques, take care of a variety of tasks, and follow all company policies.
They also must be good planners and communicators.
The U2 sales person will have:
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership skills
- Organization and time management skills
- Good computer skills (especially spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software)
- The ability to use sales software and other sales tools
- At least 3 to 5 years of sales experience
- A recent, clean criminal record check
- A valid drivers licence
- Canadian passport and ability to travel inside and outside Canada (e.g. USA)

Work Activities / Accountabilities |
- Identifying, attracting, qualifying, and securing new customers
- Regular communication with and ongoing assistance for all assigned customers
- Working with U2 inside sales to secure information about new and current customers, and ensure that they are setup and maintained in paper files, extranet database(s), and in SYSPRO correctly.
- Using existing data (from SYSPRO ERP and extranet) to create reports, model information in spreadsheets, and use data to show trends
- Collaboratively (working with the U2 Administrative assistant) building and maintaining a corporate, marketing database of customers, sales representatives, show contacts, leads and suppliers.
- Taking primary responsibility for managing assigned sales territories. This includes creating detailed sales budgets to meet / exceed corporate revenue targets, monitoring sales, reporting on sales as requested, and ensuring that sales goals are met.
- Assisting the VP Sales and Marketing with managing expenditures and staying within budget.
- recruiting, training, managing, and evaluating commission sales people for assigned sales territories
- Travelling with commission sales people, and customers outside sales staff for select customers (often wholesalers)
- Attending trade shows (including scheduling, staffing, planning, setup, take down, promotion, entertaining reps and customers, etc.)
- Representing U2 Fasteners at designated events
- Creating and delivering presentations both in person, and on social media
- Assisting with updating U2 content on social media and on the corporate web site
- Working in conjunction with internal marketing staff and external suppliers - develop and distribute marketing / promotional materials. This includes (but is not limited to): brochures, photos, print and electronic advertisements, speeches / presentations, show displays, wearable marketing, help with the corporate website, hand-held displays, price lists, and more
- Assist U2 Office Manager and U2 Accounting (A/R) with collecting overdue payments, and providing information to customers (e.g., stale invoices).

Education |
Completion of Secondary School
A post-secondary diploma or degree in business / marketing would be an asset
|
